Brainspotting

Brainspotting sessions for folx experiencing burnout provide a non-judgmental and trauma-sensitive space for you to process trauma, resource yourself, and find personal expansion. Brainspotting can help your nervous system feel more regulated.
How Does It Work?
And what to expect.
Brainspotting is a powerful, somatic, modality that can help alleviate emotional and physical pain, trauma, dissociation, and other challenging symptoms. It is a neurobiological and somatic tool that can help folx bridge connections between the body and brain. Brainspotting can be used to process trauma and resource you as well. Resourcing is when you feel a deep sense of calm or expansiveness in the body.
Brainspotting helps with:
-
Anxiety
-
Attachment issues
-
Substance use
-
Posttraumatic stress disorder
-
Chronic pain
-
Major depressive disorder
What to expect:
In a Brainspotting session, we find a brain (or body) spot to focus on. (And yes, Brainspotting can be done virtually) You decide what you want to process. I like to resource my clients before we do any trauma processing. This can look like doing some resource spots before an activation spot or using other tools to ground. This can be a spot where you feel a sense of activation in the body or a spot where you feel a deep sense of calm. You keep your focus on that spot while you listen to bilateral music to reduce the feeling of tension in the body. By accessing the brain spot you can process and release trauma that is stored in the body and brain. You don't forget the memories that you process, but your emotional affect changes.
Benefits of Brainspotting therapy include:
-
Reduced symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression
-
Reduced pain
-
Less painful memories
-
Reduced negative thought patterns
-
Better sleep
-
Increased energy
I offer Brainspotting as a part of my therapy in individual sessions. I also offer adjunctive sessions for Brainspotting. This can include working on a specific target memory for a defined number of sessions.
